The Ghost of Ray Kroc - **ARCHIVE**

A blog mostly about the San Diego Padres. I've never seen such stupid ballplaying in my afterlife. If you smell what the Kroc is cooking.

Odds and Ends: Don't Look Now, But It's Freakin' Suite

Padres Are Coming Up, So You Better Get This Party Started

6 1/2 games out of that ridiculous second Wild Card spot as of this morning.  Honestly, who saw this Padres team getting even close to this at the end of April?  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

The Suite Life of Padres Bloggers

A week ago today, I received an email from Megan from Fox Sports San Diego wanting to know if I would be interested in going to the Padres game on Social Media Tuesday, for free, and in the Fox Sports San Diego luxury suite.

I'm pretty sure I was the first person to RSVP with, "Are you F***IN' kidding me?  Of course, YES!"*
*Editor's note:  I was probably the first one to RSVP, but I just said, "Sure! Plus one, please."

At the same time, the exact same email went out to RJ's Fro, Avenging Jack Murphy, The Friarhood, LobShots, Gaslamp Ball, and Chicken Friars, along with a few others, I'm sure.

I won't bore you with the details of how I finally came to this decision, but I invited the infamous Geoff Young, aka Ducksnorts, one of the first Padres bloggers on the interwebs.  Geoff ended his blog after last season after nearly 15 years.  Now he writes for Baseball Prospectus.  Yeah, that's right.  Believe it or not, I have national connections.*  I figured he still writes about baseball and is a Padres fan, why not invite him?  He should be there!
*Editor's note:  So do all the other Padres bloggers in this case.  Geoff is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.  Also, Geoff has Time Warner Cable.  Figured he could get at least Fox Sports San Diego's side of the dispute directly.

Geoff & I got there first, with Sean.  Sean & Jodi came in the place of Dex & Jbox of Gaslamp Ball. They help run Gaslamp Ball as the Gaslamp Ball Interns.  Apparently, Dex & Jbox felt guilty for not taking them to Padres Social Media Night a couple of weeks ago.  Damn well better feel guilty, I say.

Fox Sports San Diego threw out all the stops for us.  Beer.  A bottle of wine.  Sodas.  Hot dogs.  Build-your-own tacos (Not from Jack in the Box).  All free for us.  And, they gave us all a swag bag.  I'm drinking out of my FS San Diego metal water bottle as I type this.

Rick from RJ's Fro & his dad.

We're all on our best behavior.  I can neither confirm nor deny that the guy
who ran out on the field during the game wasn't Ducksnorts.
Brittany & Nathalie, two of the three Fox Sports San Diego Girls, came by and hung out for the first 2/3 of the game with us.  They showed us all on Fox Sports San Diego at least twice during the broadcast.
The Fox Sports San Diego Girls have been stalking me all season.
I finally cornered them, but they managed to get away.

All of us are trying to use the Fox Sports Game Connect app.
It works alright, but not as well on a tablet as it does on a computer.

How you doin'?

Nathalie doing her best Michael Jackson dance.
All in all, we all had a good time.  This is the fourth time I've had the honor of attending a game from a suite this season.  I swear I won't let it go to my head.

All of you can continue reading this blog knowing I realize I was once one of you little people.*
*Editor's note:  Whoops!

Feeding America SD's Finest City Food Fight

Fox Sports San Diego is participating in Feeding America San Diego's "Finest City Food Fight," a competition between local companies to raise the most money/food/volunteer hours in the month of September.

As a thank you to Megan from FS San Diego for putting us up in the suite, I'm including the details.

Click.  Donate.  Make me proud, San Diego.
