FOX Sports San Diego is Here to Stay

FOX Sports San Diego’s new sign on the downtown San Diego skyline is a symbol of their long-term commitment to the community

SAN DIEGO, CA – There’s a new name on the San Diego skyline. Last week, FOX Sports San Diego (FSSD) installed the iconic “FOX Sports” logo outside the 4th floor of their new office space in DiamondView Towers overlooking Petco Park’s Park at the Park. The new sign is symbolic of FOX Sports’ new, long-term commitment to the Padres, the City of San Diego, and San Diego sports fans.

“We’re excited to make downtown San Diego our permanent home, and for a very long time,” said FOX Sports San Diego senior vice president and general manager, Henry Ford. “San Diego can be proud to join other top markets across the country with its own full time regional sports network. We will offer over 300 live events per year, anchored by Padres games, and will continue to pursue additional local content, as evidenced by our announcement last week to carry San Diego State, when they join the Big West next year.”

FSSD finishes their inaugural season of Padres baseball with the final game on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. By season’s end, FSSD will have televised 159 Padres games, as well as Padres Live pregame and postgame shows and related programming such as Padres POV, Padres Weekly, and Cup of Coffee with Dick Enberg.

Highlighting FOX Sports San Diego’s fall programming is the highly anticipated Battle on the Midway event on November 9 featuring San Diego State versus Syracuse atop the historic USS Midway. The network also recently announced their partnership with the Big West conference, which will make FOX Sports San Diego the New TV Home for Aztec Basketball Starting in 2013-14, with at least 12 SDSU Games Showcased Each Year. 

The network continues to air the nation’s top college and high school football contests through 2012 and is gearing up for the Los Angeles Clippers and Anaheim Ducks 2012-13 seasons.

In addition to providing quality sports coverage, FOX Sports San Diego is committed to supporting the community of San Diego. As part of this commitment, FSSD recently presented a $50,000 check to After-School All-Stars San Diego.
